The Centre for Academic Writing (CAW) is an innovative teaching and research centre whose mission is to enable students at Coventry University to become independent writers, and to equip academic staff in all disciplines to achieve their full potential as authors and teachers of scholarly writing.

Learning outcomes of this module include critical thinking, literature reviewing, structures and argumentation, and academic style.

Are you a 2nd year Coventry University student who still needs to take an Add+Vantage module in Semester Two? Why not consider CAW’s Add+Vantage module and learn how research is a key area of competence that university students need to develop. This module will cover how research is conducted; how you can understand the research process; and how to interpret your findings and those of others.
Throughout this module, you will have the opportunity to enhance your understanding of the research process, draw on your first-year experience at university and develop key skills that can be drawn upon for your final year dissertation or research project. While studying this module you will undertake an introduction to higher education research through a combination of self-guided study and a short placement to a ‘live’ research project within a relevant research centre.
Places are very limited on this module due to its unique offering and mentoring. If you are interested, please email the Add+vantage Team directly to: addvantage@coventry.ac.uk making sure you include the module code and your student ID number.
