Useful resources for accessibility listed below:-

General

• UK Government Digital Service guidance on performing a basic accessibility check
• Web Accessibility in Mind provide a number of useful 'how to' guides on particular file formats, courtesy of Utah State University
• Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) provide an international standard for online content, the most up to date standard published in 2018 is WCAG 2.1

Word and PowerPoint documents

• Microsoft have published written guidance in relation to accessibility and their products, publishing guidance for Word documents, and PowerPoint. Microsoft also provide a short online course, titled 'Accessibility in Practice: Meeting the Needs of Diverse Learners' 
• Web Accessibility in Mind provide guidance on accessible Word documents, this also covers older versions of Word
• Web Accessibility in Mind have a useful guide providing an overview of PowerPoint accessibility. 

PDF documents

• Adobe have published their own guidance on accessibility related to PDF documents which is useful to refer to.
• The Association of Learning Technologists Accessibility Special Interest Group and the Open University collaborated together in 2024 to produce a website with guidance about creating PDFs and accessibility.

Video Tutorials

There are a number of potentially helpful 'hands on' tutorials on YouTube. Specific channels with useful content in relation to accessibility include:

• The Texas Governor's Committee on People with Disabilities has a number of helpful tutorials on their YouTube channel
• JISC's TechDis department provides short video clips demonstrating aspects of accessible document creation
• Microsoft have a dedicated channel relate to accessibility topics, MSFTEnable.
