The Centre for Academic Writing (CAW) is an innovative teaching and research centre whose mission is to enable students at Coventry University to become independent writers, and to equip academic staff in all disciplines to achieve their full potential as authors and teachers of scholarly writing.
CAW is offering protected writing time sessions in a quiet, welcoming space in CAW to work on your research writing. Each session will have a facilitating academic (Assistant Professor or Lecturer in Academic Writing) on hand to discuss your writing. To find out more about these sessions and register your place, visit: https://libcal.coventry.ac.uk/calendar/caw
Please do not register for this event if you are not a PGR student as undergraduate and postgraduate taught students have separate sessions they can register for.
These sessions are aimed at students at any study level working on a resit assignment from a previous semester and due to submit on Thursday 3 July 2025. Two sessions are being offered in June 2025 and are an excellent opportunity for you to have dedicated time and space to sit and write your resit assignment alongside other students in the Academic Writing Studio at CAW. An Academic Writing Tutor will be present to provide quick guidance and advice while you are working on any written assignment that you need to resubmit on Thursday 3 July 2025 (Coventry University's published submission date).
To find out more about these sessions and register your place, visit: https://libcal.coventry.ac.uk/calendar/caw
Please do not register on these sessions if you are working on a current Semester 3 assignment as there are separate sessions you can register for.
These sessions are aimed at any undergraduate or postgraduate taught students at any study level working on a current assignment that will be handed in at the end of Semester 3.
These sessions are being offered each week during July 2025 and are an excellent opportunity for you to have a dedicated writing space in the Centre for Academic Writing. An Academic Writing Tutor will be present for quick guidance and advice while you are working on any current written assignment that is due to be submitted at the end of the semester.
To find out more about these sessions and register your place, visit: https://libcal.coventry.ac.uk/calendar/caw
These sessions are not for postgraduate researcher (PGR) students as there are separate sessions specifically for PhD students.
CAW offers a range of academic writing support services that are designed to help you become an independent writer and build your writing skills set that you can use in your chosen career. Why not get ahead on preparing for your new academic journey with us and attend the “Getting Started with Studying at University” workshop co-delivered by CAW and the Library. This workshop is designed to support a first-time introduction to, or anyone in need of a reminder of, studying at university level. There are expectations of two core academic practices: reading and writing. This workshop will help you to understand how independent, critical thinking fits into your course and your assignments. This workshop is only being delivered on Tuesday 3 June 2025, online via Microsoft Teams, so book now at: https://libcal.coventry.ac.uk/calendar/caw
CAW’s writing workshops are designed to introduce you to various academic writing topics to help with writing within your assignments. They last either up to one- or two-hours and are delivered online via Microsoft Teams. Each workshop is repeated throughout each semester, so you only need to attend each session once. To view the current schedule of workshops and book online, visit: https://libcal.coventry.ac.uk/calendar/caw. In order to attend, you must book a place in advance. Registration opens four weeks before each delivery date.
