The Centre for Academic Writing (CAW) is an innovative teaching and research centre whose mission is to enable students at Coventry University to become independent writers, and to equip academic staff in all disciplines to achieve their full potential as authors and teachers of scholarly writing.
Are you unsure of AI tools and how to use them in your academic writing? CAW is pleased to announce a NEW workshop is now available called “Introduction to using AI Tools in your Writing Process” for all Coventry University Group students no matter what your study level is, or which campus you are studying at.
The workshop offers practical guidance and ethical considerations, mapped to the five stages of the writing process, for you to apply when using AI tools with your writing. The guidance shows you how you might use AI tools to make useful interventions in your writing when generating your ideas, planning, drafting, revising, and editing/proofreading.
Delivery is online via Microsoft Teams. To attend the workshop, register online at: https://libcal.coventry.ac.uk/calendar/caw.
As CAW is very busy during peak teaching weeks, finding a one-to-one appointment can sometimes be hard to do. Why not take advantage of our extended Single Question Drop-in sessions on the ground floor of the Library. We now offer these eight times a week Monday-Friday during peak teaching weeks including assignment hand-in week. This gives you access to 14 hours a week to be able to talk to an Academic Writing Tutor for 10 minutes at a time. These no-appointment necessary sessions provide a great opportunity to get quick advice as you progress through your written assignments. To make the most of these sessions, visit: https://libguides.coventry.ac.uk/CAWhomepage/Dropinsessions to download a PDF document on the timings for this semester and important tips on how to make the most of these drop-ins.
Don't forget that CAW offers workshops to introduce you to a variety of academic writing topics from The Writing Process, Critical Reading, Sentence Construction to Critical Thinking, and Using Sources Effectively. To view our schedule for Semester 2 and book a place on any of the workshop topics, visit: https://libcal.coventry.ac.uk/calendar/caw. All workshops are delivered online via Microsoft Teams.
Why not consider coming to CAW's Academic Writing Studio and spend some quality time writing your assignments. CAW Facilitated Writing Time sessions in February and March to help you progress in your written assignments by providing a quiet welcoming area to concentrate without interuptions and have an Academic Writing Tutor available for guidance.
