The principles of a good reading list: Structuring your list

Students have fed back that the following helps them:

• A structured list, rather than one big, long, scary list.
• Categories to relate reading to a topic or week.
• Annotations to explain the relevance of a particular item e.g.
  • Read chapter 3
  • Read the methodology in these articles and consider their relevance
• Setting expectations of what to read e.g.:
  • Read all essential material
  • Read one of the essential items
  • Read articles/chapter that are relevant to your subject strand (common modules across differing courses)
