How can I limit my search results?

You can select the tabs below to learn each step.

You can reorder the search results with ‘Sort By’ or refine your results in Locate by applying filters in the left sidebar on the results page.

You can hover over the filters, check the box to the left of a filter and click apply filters; or check the orange slashed checkmark to the right of the filter to exclude that criteria.

You can check the active filters on the top, hover over to lock or remove specific filters, lock all filters or reset fliters.

Different filters appear under different search scopes, and here are some common filters that might be helpful:

Open Access + Peer-reviewed journals = Peer-reviewed articles published in an Open Access (OA) journal, and OA journals with a peer-reviewed process
Peer-reviewed journals with selection of search scope: article = Articles from peer reviewed journals
Expand beyond library collections = include the search results with records not subscribed by the Coventry University Library so that you can submit a document supply request and we will try to obtain your requested materials from libraries across the globe.

How do I perform specific search?

You can click on “Advanced Search” for more specific search.

You will then see the advanced search options available in the form.

1	Search for	Set your search scope
2	Any field	Narrow your keyword search within a particular field
3	AND	Select AND, OR, and NOT operators to connect words and phrases in different search line
4	contains	Choose from contains, as a phrase, or starts with
5	Add a New Line	Add one more search criteria
