The library is here to support researchers of all levels at every stage of the research journey. We offer expert support in the following areas:
Finding Information For Your Research
Academic Liaison Librarians are available to help you find relevant information for your research. They can guide you to the resources of most relevance to your area of research and indicate the tools and techniques that can be used to perform an effective literature search and keep up-to-date with the latest research in your area. Consult your Research Centre's LibGuide for more information.
Reference Management
Reference management tools such as RefWorks and EndNote help with storing and organising references from a variety of sources. They can also help with the creation of reference lists that conform to specific styles. Academic Liaison Librarians can support you in the setup and use of these tools. Consult your Research Centre's LibGuide to find out your Academic Liaison Librarian's contact details.
Open Access and Pure
Open Access (OA) is the practice of providing free online access to scholarly outputs with fewer restrictions on re-use. The library's Research and Scholarly Publications Team can provide guidance on the forms and benefits of publishing OA, as well as advice on how to conform to institutional, REF and funder OA policies. The team also provide support for Pure, Coventry University's Research Information System, which tracks, organises and showcases the institution's research output as well as being the institution's Open Access repository.
Research Data Management (RDM) is the practice of creating, organising, sharing and reusing data collected during the research lifecycle and is recognised as an essential part of good research practice. The library's Research and Scholarly Publications Team provide advice on all aspects of RDM and can support the process of creating a Data Management Plan.
The research landscape is populated with a range of metrics that can be used to help demonstrate research impact. The library can help researchers with their understanding of specific metrics such as the h-index, journal citation metrics and Altmetrics, as well as support researchers in their use of tools such as Scopus and SciVal. For further advice please contact the Research and Scholarly Publications Team.
The library's collection includes print and electronic access to theses produced by Coventry University postgraduate researchers. The Research and Scholarly Publications Team advise on and support the process of depositing theses into the institutional repository and making them available Open Access.
