International Open Access Week Research Café: Open for Climate Justice
As part of our Open Access Week activities, we are hosting a research café in the Library to share climate research being undertaken by our colleagues at Coventry University.
We'd like to invite you to join us on Wednesday 26th October from 12:00 BST, on the third floor, The Grass. Feel free to bring your lunch; hot beverages will be available.
Overview of the presentations
Presenter: Dr Joanna Kubicka
Title: ESG reporting - the real challenges of climate change
Overview: As climate change and constraints on the availability of basic production resources become a reality, developing the ability of businesses to run a greener and less intrusive business that has less negative impacts on both the environment and people is one of the key tasks of business educators. As we know, there can be no effective management without monitoring and reporting on key performance indicators, so it is important to raise awareness of the recommendations for monitoring and reporting on environmental and social issues by enterprises.
Presenter: Ebenezer Akore Yeboah
Title: Nursing in the context of climate change
Overview: This presentation will share current thoughts on the role of the nurses in relation to climate change, carbon reduction and sustainability. It will report the literature phase of a PhD study designed to explore nurses’ awareness, perception and opinion about their role and activities in relation to the climate agenda.
Presenter: Yves Tramblay
Title: Changes in African floods
Overview: African countries are highly vulnerable to floods, with the fatalities and economic impacts associated with this hazard that have increased over the last decades. Despite the importance of the topic, little is known about the long-term changes in flood hazard and the dominant flood generating mechanisms across this continent. Using a newly assembled database of daily river discharge observations, we investigated changes in annual maximum floods for more than 1000 river basins.
For those not on Coventry Campus, we will be hosting this event in hybrid format. Please contact researchcafe.lib@coventry.ac.uk for details on how to join the café.
We look forward to welcoming you on Wednesday.
