Love Data Week, 10-14th February 2025
“Whose Data Is It, Anyway?”
From 10th to 14th February 2025, the global community will come together to celebrate Love Data Week. Various groups such as researchers, government entities, companies, and organizations collect data. They may own, share, publish, or combine it. This year's theme, 'Whose Data is it, Anyway?’ encourages us to consider the origins of the data we use.
Love Data Week originated in 2016 as Love Your Data Week, and the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) took over as the host institution in 2021. The ICPSR consists of over 810 academic institutions and research organizations, and provides leadership and training in data access, curation, and analysis methods for the social science research community. It also maintains a data archive with over 350,000 research files in the social and behavioural sciences. Although most events are hosted in the US, Love Data Week is an international occasion where a diverse range of institutions, organizations, scholars, students, and data enthusiasts come together to celebrate data.
Whether you're diving into ethical considerations in AI research, mastering spreadsheets, or exploring the data and coding behind modern applications, there's something in the events to captivate your attention.
The university’s data collection continues to expand and over the next week, we will be featuring some datasets that have been shared by CU researchers: https://pureportal.coventry.ac.uk/en/datasets/
