The Centre for Academic Writing (CAW) is an innovative teaching and research centre whose mission is to enable students at Coventry University to become independent writers, and to equip academic staff in all disciplines to achieve their full potential as authors and teachers of scholarly writing.
As we enter the final week of this semester, and hand-in dates are quickly approaching, do not forget take advantage of our extended Single Question Drop-in sessions on the ground floor of the Library. These will take place:
Monday 7 April 2025 between 11:00 – 14:45
Tuesday 8 April 2025 between 11:00 - 12:45 AND 14:00 – 15:45
Wednesday 9 April 2025 between 10:00 – 11:45 AND 14:00 – 15:45
Thursday 10 April 2025 between 11:00 – 12:45
Friday 11 April 2025 between 13:00 – 14:45
This gives you access to 14 hours during the week to be able to talk to an Academic Writing Tutor for up to 10 minutes at a time. These no-appointment necessary sessions provide a great opportunity for you to get quick advice as you finalise your written assignments. As assignment hand-in deadlines are quickly approaching, why not consider CAW's last academic writing development workshop for this semester? Our 'Using Sources Effectively: Avoiding Plagiarism in your Writing' is an excellent workshop to help with those final changes and tweaks in your written assignments.
All courses require students build their arguments with integrity by researching other people's ideas, models, theories and arguments. This workshop covers understanding what evidence is and how to use it in your writing to avoid plagiarism, You can be penalised for intentional and unintentional plagiarism at Coventry University. This workshop will help you understand what plagiarism is and how to avoid it.
