Access to the library is flat through automatic doors. Accessable website main entrance information. We also have rear access to the building - the engineering building side. This has a button to activate an automatic door. Information on the accessable website.
Students who have a mobility impairment will be able to use their card to access the staff lift if the main lift isn't working. If you have any queries when on site please speak to someone at the Welcome Desk.
The main welcome desk provides a lower height service point.
An accessible toilet is located on each floor of the library. For more information see the toilet section of the accessable website.
Assistance dogs are welcome in the library building with their owners.
In the event of an emergency an evacuation message will be repeated loudly over the public address system throughout the library. The alarm system is audio only. If you are unable to use the stairs to exit the library, you should remain in a designated refuge position located at every level of each stairwell, until the emergency services reach you. There are refuge positions outside the toilets on the landing of each floor.
Please alert a member of library staff as to your whereabouts; this will then be reported immediately to the emergency services.
