If you are known to the Disability Team and they have put a note on your student record (Universe record) e.g. dyslexia, then we will waive your fines if you are not able to return your books in time.
When returning your library material, please inform the Welcome Desk staff if you need fines to be waived. Fines are not automatically deleted.
We will waive fines for 7 days on both one week and three week (standard loan) books. One week is the maximum amount of fine we will waive on any one item. Any additional fines accrued will have to be paid. The only exception is if you have been ill and bring in a sick note. In this case we will waive the fine for the duration of the sick note.
We are happy for a relative, helper or friend to collect library material on your behalf, using your ID card. However, responsibility for the items borrowed on your card, and any fines accrued, remain the responsibility of the card owner.
If you have difficulty collecting books from the shelves, please ask for assistance from any of our staff, or at the Welcome Desk. If you need a lot of material it would help us if you could let us know in advance by contacting either your Academic Liaison Librarian or the Library Disability Coordinator. Small trolleys are available near the entrance for carrying books around in the library. Please note, this service may take longer in the evenings and at weekends.
Postal loans for books and photocopies of articles are available to all students via the Document Supply service. Contact docsupply.lib@coventry.ac.uk for more information, or consult their website.
