Accessible Study Rooms

The library has two accessible study rooms:

• Group Room 7 on silent floor 1.  Bookable only by students registered with the Disabilities Office.  Contains adjustable furniture and accessible software/hardware.  This room can be booked for up to 4 hours at a time for sole, group use or use with a helper.  If you wish to extend the time after 4 hours you can check with the Welcome Desk in person, by phone or by Live Chat on Locate.  An extension of 2 hours max can be granted if nobody has booked the room at that time. 

• How to book - via the Welcome Desk; the Live Chat service on Locate, or by phoning Customer Services on 024 7688 7575.   The room must be booked by the student or in the student's name.  

• Group Room 1 on the ground floor.  Useful for students with limited mobility.  Contains standard furniture.  This room is used by all university students, but students known to the disability team in the Hub can book it for sole use or with a helper.  This room can be booked for up to 2 hours.

• How to book - use the Room Bookings facility on the library website. 

The following equipment is available in Group Room 7:

• networked PC
• table with electrically adjustable height from 60 to 126 centimetres
• manually adjustable height stool from 63 to 91 centimetres
• trackball mouse

The following facilities are available on the networked PC in Group Room 7:

• Texthelp Read and Write software​
• Kurzweil 1000 software and scanner - scan a document or book page with the scanner and the computer will read it out. 
• SuperNova Magnifier and Screen Reader   -  available also on certain machines across campus.
