Partner Students: Getting Access

Getting Access to Resources

To access Coventry University's e-resources you will need a Coventry University computer username and password. If you have a Coventry University Student Identity Number (SID) you can register for an IT account and/or reset your password. If you experience difficulties doing this, please call IT services on +44 (0)2477 657 777.
Please keep your username and password safe and do not give it to anyone else. As usernames and passwords are individual, any misuse of resources can be traced back to the owner.
For security reasons, all Coventry University passwords expire after three months. If you receive a message saying that your password has expired when trying to log in to a resource, you can reset your password online. To do this you will need your Coventry Student Identity Number and date of birth.
When you register for an IT account you are bound by the terms of Coventry University's Code of Conduct.

Librarians and staff members who teach on Coventry University courses at partner institutions may request access to Coventry University's e-resources. To do so, please send an email to apu@coventry.ac.uk explaining which institution you work at and your reason for requiring access. You will be asked to verify some personal details.

Provided you meet the criteria for a Coventry University IT account, you will shortly receive information from IT Services to activate your account. Once you have activated your IT account, you will have access to the e-resources detailed on the 'Library Resources' tab of this webpage.

E-resource Usage

Coventry University's e-resources are protected by UK copyright and database right laws. Please read our Copyright Statement before using the service. Any misuse of a password will result in the immediate suspension of your account.
Please note that whilst we try subscribe to as many journals as possible, not all full text content on these databases is within our subscriptions - if you do not see a download or “full text” option then this is likely to be the reason.

Troubleshooting

The following information is for students at partner institutions. If you are a staff member having trouble accessing library resources, please email apu@coventry.ac.uk with details of the issue.

I have received my welcome letter but my date of birth is incorrect, how can this be amended?

Please email correctmydetails.apu@coventry.ac.uk with your student ID number and correct date of birth. The same email address can also be used if you would like to amend the spelling or order of your name(s).

I was previously enrolled on a course but I am now receiving an error message when trying to access the e-resources, what can I do?

If the error message states that you are no longer enrolled then please email apu@coventry.ac.uk with ‘E-resources Access’ as a subject heading. Please ensure that you state your Coventry University student ID number and name in the email to enable us to help you.

I am still receiving an error message but it does not refer to not being enrolled, how can I get access?

Where possible we would like you to send a screenshot of the error message to apu@coventry.ac.uk as this will help us to source the issue and resolve it as soon as possible. It would be very useful if you could also include which e-resources and sites you are trying to visit. Please be advised that due to licensing agreements with certain E-resource providers, you may not be able to access certain documents.
