"The writing service really came in handy in regards to my dissertation. In particular, Jolyon Pike was incredibly helpful in shaping the end result of my paper that I would then go on to submit."
If you wish to discuss a draft or any other matter, on campus or online via Teams, or you wish to receive feedback on a draft, please book an appointment here.
For feedback on a draft, you need to choose "Email Appointment"; you do not attend an email appointment but need to send your draft prior to the appointment, from your University email account to the relevant Academic Writing Developer. The Academic Writing Developer will review the draft during the allotted time, and send a copy with constructive feedback back to you.
Alternatively you can email to arrange an appointment.
Students may have up to 3 full consultations, whether appointments or reviews of a draft, per assignment.
You should not book more than one appointment at a time.
If you make an appointment and then cannot make it, please notify the AWS to cancel the appointment, as this allows others to book and saves the Academic Writing Developer from wasting time preparing for a no-show. A record of students who do not attend and do not cancel is kept.
These sessions are an excellent opportunity for you to have the benefit of an Academic Writing Developer on hand to provide support as you write your assignment.
These sessions are not for getting feedback or in-depth guidance on what you have written so far, or to be used as one of CUL’s drop-in sessions. You will be given guidance only on what you are writing during these sessions.
Further details and the schedule for facilitated writing sessions at Dagenham and at Greenwich, along with a wide range of other workshops, are available from the Libguides Academic Writing Service landing page.

Drop-In Sessions are opportunities for students at Dagenham to have brief consultations with the Academic Writing Developer without having to make an appointment.
The sessions take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays during lunchtimes, from 1.30 to 2pm.
Students can visit the Academic Writing Developer in his office, N214, at the entrance to the Library, and ask any academic writing related question that can be answered in 5 minutes or less.
Examples of the kind of question you could ask:
What makes a good introduction?
Is this paragraph well structured?
Have I included critical analysis here?
How can I improve my academic vocabulary?
What does X mean in my assignment brief?
How do I reference X?
Where can I find a good guide to writing a literature review?
Looking forward to seeing you.
