To borrow a book using the self-service machines; located on the ground, 1st and 2nd floors; you need to scan your ID card by placing it in the slot below the screen. When your ID card logs you into the machine, select 'Borrow' and place books in the larger section when asked to do so. The screen will indicate when the books have been added to your account by showing a due return date in green. It will then also print a receipt. To check your account, renew books, or pay a fine, simply scan your card under the card reader and click 'Account' and then select the relevant option. Please note that self-service machines only accept payment with credit/debit cards and payments can only be made on the Ground floor self-service machines.
The returns machines which is located on the ground floor, operates on a traffic light system. When the green light displays place one book on the conveyor belt. The red light will then display as your book is checked in and taken along the conveyor belt into the Sortation Room. Books must be returned one at a time. Whilst the red light displays please do not place any books onto the conveyor belt until it has turned green again.
