Create from Template
After clicking "Research Output" it will bring you a list of templates to select from - this is essentially to pick the publication type.
Once you've picked the first type in the middle column, more subcategories will appear in the right column.
Simply pick the one the best applies to your output.
We would usually recommend this method of creating a record.
Import from Online Source
After clicking "Research Output" and then "Import from online source", you will have a list of sources you can import from.
This includes Scopus, Mendeley, ORCiD, SSRN, PubMed, arXiv, dblp, medRxiv, Unpaywall, CORE, IEEE Xplore and Espacenet.
Once you've select a source, simply search for your publications (please note that this may take a moment, especially if there are a large number of results).
Then click "Import" or records you wish to add and the "Import and Review".
Import from File
This option will allow you to upload outputs from bibliographic software such as EndNote and Reference Manager (RIS files) or as a BibTeX file, for example from Google Scholar or ORCID.
Simple click 'Research Output', ‘Import from file’ and then choose which format you wish to upload before either uploading the file or pasting the code.
You will then need to fill in / check all the information about the record is correct.
The fields you will want to fill in include:
Peer-reviewed*: Whether the output was Peer Reviewed
Publication Statuses*: Add the Accepted date here and the Published/Online date if you have it
Publication Information*: The essential details like title and abstract
Contributors*: Check authors and their affiliations are listed correctly. You can add a person by clicking "Add Person" and either search for them or add their details manually.
Electronic Version(s): Click "Add electronic version" to add the file of the Accepted Manuscript, and the DOI or link to the publication (if you have it).
You can also link the publication to other publications, activities or events, and indicate if you need to change the visibility of the record (e.g. if the record of the publication needs to hidden).
For REF Compliance, it is really important that you include the acceptance date under publication statuses, and the accepted manuscript under electronic versions:
Then at the bottom of the window, select "For Validation" if you are finished with the record or "Entry in Progress" if you want to come back and finish it later, and then hit Save .
Once a record is marked as "For Validation" it will be put in a queue to be reviewed by the ORSP team. They will ensure it is as Open as appropriate and meets your publisher's policies. If there is anything more they need from you, they will be in touch by email, otherwise the record will be made public.
After you've made a record of your publication in Pure, you may wish to update the record, for instance once the article has been published.
To update your record, simple log in to Pure, find the record of your publication and make the relevant changes.
Once you hit save, the record will then get marked for re-validation, where a member of the ORSP team will check the changes.
Alternatively, you can email us at oa.lib@coventry.ac.uk and we will be able to help you update your record.
