Books can be borrowed for one week or three weeks at a time. You can borrow books using the self-issue machine or at the Helpdesk.
Laptops can be borrowed for four hours (or until the building closes if that’s sooner).
You can borrow up to 20 items at a time. If no-one else needs a book you have borrowed, it will renew automatically.
To avoid fines, make sure to check your University email regularly - we'll email you if anyone has requested your books. Please bring books back when you have finished with them.
You can view your loans and manually renew your books by logging in to Locate.
If you need a book that someone else has on loan, you can request it using Locate or at the Helpdesk. The next copy to come back will be put behind the desk with your name on it and you’ll get an email asking you to collect it.
Overdue books are charged at £1 per day.
Overdue laptops are charged at £1 per hour.
If your fines get over £10, items will no longer auto-renew and you will not be able to borrow anything until you pay some of them off.
The maximum fine is £15 per item.
If something gets very overdue we will add the cost of replacing it to your account (we take this off if you bring it back).
Don't let fines become a stress for you. Check your University email to make sure books are renewing, and make sure to get laptops back on time.
Let us know if you're going to have a problem returning something before it's due and we'll do our best to help.
